This story on the activity of craft breweries in Maine towards sustainable and profitable growth is a hopeful sign for the industry. As with this story in February, there is a lot about wastewater use, but this one also includes how they’re trying to use spent grains, and about how packaging is being done to be more environmentally friendly.
I know: for businesses it’s still about what is profitable, but the attitude I got throughout this story was that these people were mindful that there without good practices now, the future of their industry just won’t be there.
